IFEDA kick-starts 2025 with relaunched website and new Training Centres
17 February 2025
THE INDEPENDENT Fire Engineering and Distributors Association (IFEDA) has begun the New Year by redesigning and relaunching its website and heralding the opening of new Training Centres for members. The news follows on from Simon Lyons’ appointment as national general manager for the Trade Association at the tail end of 2024.

The fire industry is both developing and expanding with the advent of new regulations, laws and standards including the Fire Safety Act 2021 and the Building Safety Act 2022. Founded back in 1989, IFEDA is keen to evolve with these changes and meet the needs of its members and non-members alike by “remaining current, relevant and accessible” to all.
To this end, the organisation’s new website aims to be interactive and user friendly, with announcements on any relevant industry changes or updates set alongside general news from IFEDA. The updated platform features a more comprehensive ‘Members Only’ section, allowing all members to chat among themselves and share knowledge as well as Best Practice.
In parallel, the new training facilities include a central hub in Gawcott. This is situated next to IFEDA’s head office in Buckinghamshire for the delivery of high-quality fire industry training. This is being introduced based upon the geographical needs identified by IFED’s members. Further, the organisation has secured a permanent training venue in Warrington, while also looking to expand its training course catalogue in 2025.
Strong working relationships
As stated, Simon Lyons MIFSM joined the Trade Association late last year and, in a short period of time, has already begun to introduce some exciting ideas for the organisation. He boasts over 30 years’ experience gained by working within the fire safety sector. That experience spans multiple disciplines, among them fire extinguishers, fire alarms and risk assessment procedures.
Through time, Lyons has held several senior management positions, providing him with the knowledge and vision which will bring huge benefits to the Trade Association and its members.
On his appointment, Lyons commented: “Over the course of my career, I’ve acquired transferable knowledge and skills, which I feel are vital for my role here at IFEDA. I’m tremendously excited to be part of IFEDA and look forward to the future and the building of strong working relationships with all of our members.”
IFEDA’s 2025 Annual General Meeting will take place on 11 October at the Grade II-listed De Vere Tortworth Court Hotel in Tortworth, Wotton-Under-Edge GL12 8HH, Members are advised to book their places ahead of the deadline on 15 September by sending an e-mail to info@ifeda.org
