Fire Safety Matters signposts webinar on proposed amendments to Fire Safety Order

27 March 2023

FIRE SAFETY Matters magazine will be partnering with leading industry lawyer Warren Spencer to deliver a special two-hour webinar on the ramifications of the proposed amendments to the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order.

The webinar will take place on 2 June 2023 at 10.00 am and will be hosted by Warren Spencer (managing director of Blackhurst Budd Solicitors), who has prosecuted more cases under the Fire Safety Order than any other lawyer.

Following publication of the new fire safety regulations, the next step in the Government's overhaul of fire safety legislation will be the implementation of Section 156 of the Building Safety Act 2022 ,which will substantially amend the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

The proposed amendments will significantly affect articles 9, 11, 21, 22 and 50 of the Fire Safety Order. ‘Responsible Persons’ will be under a duty to instruct ‘competent’ fire risk assessors. Risk assessments will have to be carried out and then delivered in a written format, while certain information will have to be recorded and passed on to other ‘Responsible Persons’. There will also be specific amendments in relation to fire safety enforcement in higher-risk buildings.

During the course of this webinar, Warren Spencer will discuss the proposed amendments and the possible impact upon the enforcement of the Fire Safety Order by Fire and Rescue Services, in particular in relation to high-risk buildings. He will also examine the consequences for fire risk assessors, ‘Responsible Persons’ and other practising fire industry professionals.

*Tickets for attendance cost £99+VAT. Availability is limited. Book your place(s) now online at https://events.streamgo.live/the-ramifications-of-the-proposed-amendment-to-fire-safety-order
