Gunning London launches new division to meet increasing need for fire door installation and maintenance
12 May 2021
GUNNING LONDON, the Chartered Building Company specialising in internal and external refurbishments, has launched a new division entitled Gunning Fire to meet the ever-increasing need for professionally installed fire door and fire stopping solutions.
Having achieved independent UKAS-accredited certification from Bluesky Certification in April, Gunning Fire will now offer fire door installation, fire door maintenance, fire stopping (compartmentation) and cladding refurbishment delivered by its dedicated team of in-house installers. A member of the Association for Specialist Fire Protection, Gunning Fire will be responsible for the overall co-ordination of all fire safety projects with which it’s involved.
Gunning London carries considerable experience in the field, having completed numerous fire stopping projects in the past in the role of principal contractor. Those projects have included extensive fire compartmentation works for the University of the Arts London, the installation of fire doors and fire break partitions for the London School of Tropical Hygiene and Medicine and fire upgrades at Fair Acres, a residential estate in Kent.
The new division will be led by Richard Shatford, who views this move as a logical development for a long-standing company.
In conversation with Fire Safety Matters, Shatford observed: “Much of our work over the last few years has been in the fire protection area and, with the management teams of so many educational, heritage and residential properties looking to provide the best possible safety measures, this new division will allow us to keep up with the increased demand that we’ve experienced.”
Tom Gunning, director at Gunning London, firmly believes that Gunning Fire allows the company to put its customers first. “While we have a history of successfully completing fire safety works,” asserted Gunning, “we’ve never been fully autonomous to offer the service we feel our customers deserve. As a principal contractor, we will be able to ensure that all aspects of a project run to our extremely high standards.”
