EWS-1 Form upload period continues until Monday 11 October
06 September 2021
AS PREVIOUSLY indicated, seven UK lenders – namely Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, Nationwide, NatWest, Santander and TSB – are covering the cost of making EWS-1 Forms publicly available through the Fire Industry Association’s (FIA) Building Safety Information Portal.
The Trade Association is pleased to be observing significantly enhanced activity on the site and welcomes further assessor registrations and EWS-1 Form submissions as it proceeds towards the closing date of this offer of Monday 11 October.
Further, the FIA has stated: “It’s also clear that lenders are increasingly demanding that EWS-1 Forms appear on the Building Safety Information Portal in order for them to be accepted.”
This collaboration between the lending industry, the FIA and UK Finance means that everyone – including homeowners, prospective buyers, valuers and lenders – can easily access a given building’s EWS-1 Form through a central portal. This service remains free of charge.
Signatories to EWS-1 Forms must first register to submit or complete forms online and also provide evidence of applicable professional memberships and qualifications prior to the application being approved.
Buyers, sellers, lenders, insurers and other stakeholders with an interest in particular properties can search by postcode or building name. If listed on the Building Safety Information Portal, the building will appear with its full postal address.
The relevant EWS-1 Form can then be viewed and downloaded by entering a valid e-mail address which enables the FIA to contact the enquirer if an EWS-1 Form is either withdrawn or superseded.
