ASFP to create Passive Fire Protection Arena at The Fire Safety Event
07 September 2021
THE ASSOCIATION for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) has announced an exciting expansion of its partnership with Nineteen Group and The Fire Safety Event which will see it play host to a new Passive Fire Protection Arena.
The Fire Safety Event is the UK’s largest and fastest growing exhibition in the fire sector and hosted annually at the NEC in Birmingham. The event is uniquely co-located with The Health and Safety Event, The Facilities Event, The Security Event, The National Cyber Security Show and also The Emergency Services Show.
The ASFP has been a key supporter of The Fire Safety Event since the latter’s inception in 2018 and will once again play a key role when the shows opens its doors on 7-9 September. This year’s event plays host to the ASFP’s Tall Buildings Theatre.
Passive Fire Protection Arena
Based on the success of this partnership, the ASFP and The Fire Safety Event have now signed a multi-year agreement to create a new Passive Fire Protection Arena starting in 2022. This will feature a collection of ASFP members in one place. The centrepiece will be the Passive Fire Conference, which will put on Continuing Professional Development-accredited educational content that’s curated by the ASFP.
Passive fire protection has never been more prevalent in the wake of the Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety (itself conducted by Dam Judith Hackitt) and the newly proposed Building Safety Bill. The new Passive Fire Protection Arema will be a leading platform for promoting the importance of passive fire protection and give visitors to The Fire Safety Event hands-on access to the latest passive fire protection products as well as key guidance on current regulatory changes.
Meet the team
ASFP CEO Steve Davies has shared his excitement about extending the organisation’s partnership with The Fire Safety Event. Davies said: “All of us at the ASFP are thrilled to be partnering with The Fire Safety Event once again. Given the issues of the last 18 months, the ASFP’s members of staff will be delighted to welcome you to the NEC on 7-9 September. Come and meet the team and take the opportunity to find out about the very latest developments in passive fire protection.”
Tristan Norman, event director of The Fire Safety Event, explained that many ASFP members already exhibit at the show. This new agreement, though, will place an even greater focus on passive fire protection for the 2022 edition, which will see delegates have access to the largest number of passive fire protection companies at a UK event.
“We’re thrilled to be continuing and growing our partnership with the ASFP for 2022 and beyond,” enthused Norman. “Passive fire protection is such a critical and growing sector for the fire industry and our event. I’m really excited to be able to rely on the ASFP’s input right from the start of our 2022 floorplan design and create the new Passive Fire Protection Arena. This gives us the opportunity to realise a natural ‘home’ for all of the passive fire companies who participate in the event surrounding the new and increased Passive Fire Conference which will be a key highlight of the 2022 show.”
