Association for Specialist Fire Protection joins CITB Employer Networks initiative
30 September 2024
THE ASSOCIATION for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) has joined the Construction Industry Training Board’s (CITB) Employer Networks initiative. This significant step reflects the Association’s commitment to supporting the construction industry and, indeed, its own members by providing better access to essential training and funding.

Adam Shipstone, the ASFP’s technical training officer, enthused: “I’m excited about the positive changes we can bring to the industry through this collaboration. Over the next 12 months, we look forward to sharing many new developments that will benefit our members.”
The CITB Employer Networks initiative, which is funded and facilitated by CITB, focuses on two key objectives as follows:
Easier access to training and funding
The Employer Networks simplify the process of accessing training, covering a wide range of areas crucial to construction employers. This includes not only current trade skills, but also future-focused needs such as ‘Net Zero’ initiatives, digital skills and mentoring.
Moreover, the Employer Networks handle the organisation of funding applications, eliminating any paperwork hassles for employers. This allows members to access financial support for training both quickly and efficiently.
Collaborative input on training needs
Through local engagement, employers can share their specific training needs directly with the CITB. This collaborative approach ensures that funding is allocated effectively and training provisions address both immediate and future skill requirements in each region.
Anyone who claims funding through the Employer Network will not be able to claim the same costs through the levy. The ASFP recommends consulting with the nominated CITB engagement advisor to find the best solution for a given business.
By joining this Employer Network, ASFP members now have a stronger voice in shaping the construction industry’s training landscape, in turn ensuring it meets their evolving needs.
