Triple shortlisting for ASFP in Trade Association Forum Awards
01 January 2024
THE ASSOCIATION for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) has been shortlisted in three categories for the Trade Association Forum Awards, which are specifically designed to recognise, reward and promote Best Practice among Trade Associations operating here in the UK.
The ASFP’s magazine Ignite has been shortlisted for Magazine of the Year. Ignite caters to the needs and interests of professionals working within the passive fire protection industry. It offers a valuable resource that enhances the knowledge and expertise of its audience. The magazine actively promotes Best Practice and addresses challenges in the sector, in turn helping to facilitate the growth and development of the industry.
Produced three times each year, Ignite is distributed in the print form at ASFP events, industry conferences and trade shows, while also being sent to each Trade Association member. Further, it’s distributed in the digital format via the ASFP’s online platforms, including its website, social media and e-mail listings.
Membership engagement
The ASFP’s ever-expanding events and training calendar has been shortlisted for the Membership Engagement Award. This initiative aims to transform and expand membership engagement through additional events, providing members and the wider industry with an increased opportunity for engagement.
The ASFP has introduced new training courses and events and added another major trade show to its annual itinerary. The Trade Association has also increased opportunities for members to attend its technical group meetings by increasing the number of these gatherings and introducing several new groups.
This initiative has deepened connections with existing members and attracted new entrants. It has exerted a demonstrable impact on engagement and resulted in positive member feedback, not to mention a sustainable financial return, thereby highlighting the ASFP’s overriding and continual commitment to fostering a vibrant member community.
Rising Star Award
These campaigns are just two of the many marketing initiatives spearheaded by the ASFP’s shortlisted Rising Star, namely the ASFP’s marketing manager Reece Goodman.
Since joining the ASFP in 2021, Goodman has revitalised the Trade Association’s marketing. He undertook a comprehensive overhaul of the ASFP's branding, introduced the new magazine and has significantly enhanced the ASFP’s online presence.
Indeed, Goodman created the design – and led the March 2022 launch of – the Trade Association’s new website and CRM and has delivered a wide range of sell-out events. In June 2021, Goodman launched ASFPTV, in parallel tripling the Association’s YouTube following.
Further, Goodman hosts ASFPLive and the Sparking Interest podcasts and conducts ASFPTV interviews, all the while encouraging engagement from seasoned industry professionals and newcomers alike.
Development and improvement
Mike Ward, managing director at the ASFP, commented: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for these prestigious awards, which clearly recognise the ASFP’s dedication to developing and improving the services we offer to our members. These initiatives have already resulted in impressive levels of member engagement and bolstered the ASFP’s profile both within and outside of the passive fire protection industry.”
Ward continued: “I’m thrilled that Reece Goodman has been recognised for the Rising Star Award. As well as being a wonderful team member who is fun to be around, Reece’s exceptional leadership skills, creative prowess and tireless dedication to the cause have transformed our marketing landscape. Reece is a catalyst for growth and innovation within the Trade Association.”
The winners will be announced at a ceremony to be held at The De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in central London on 22 February.
