New online training platform launched by ASFP
09 July 2026
THE ASSOCIATION for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) has introduced a new Learning Management System in conjunction with Nucleus Technologies. The new online platform underscores the ASFP’s ongoing commitment to provide the highest standards of training and support for its members and the wider passive fire protection industry.

Previous systems were no longer scalable to meet the ASFP’s needs as training provision grew. The organisation was operating across two separate learning management platforms for different courses, which understandably created a degree of complexity for learners and made it difficult to maintain a consistent record of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activity. It also introduced inefficiencies in areas such as administration and invoicing.
With the introduction of its new Learning Management System, the ASFP is bringing all of its training provision together into a single and streamlined platform. This will provide a more cohesive experience for learners, improve the visibility of CPD achievement and enable the ASFP to better support continued growth.
The ASFP has fully redesigned all of its courses in the new system, enhancing the learning experience with more interactive activities. The system also makes managing delegates easier for companies. The lead booker for a given company will be able to run reports on the progress of all their delegates.
Enhanced learner experience
Adam Shipstone (head of training at the ASFP and the key driver behind this vital project) explained: “The new Learning Management System delivers a significantly enhanced learner experience, featuring a cleaner and more intuitive interface with a modern design that makes navigating course content simpler and more engaging.”
In order to support a more interactive and dynamic learning journey, the platform now includes a range of enhanced learning features, among them:
*interactive ‘hotspots’ that encourage exploration and engagement
*flip cards to support knowledge retention and self-assessment
*expandable and collapsible content sections allowing learners to focus on information at their own pace
*embedded tabulated content that presents key information in a streamlined, accessible and bite-sized format
“Importantly,” continued Shipstone, “the new Learning Management System offers learners greater flexibility and autonomy. Unlike more restrictive learning platforms, it enables users to progress through content in a way that suits their individual learning style, allowing them to learn at their own pace and explore topics in their preferred order rather than following a fixed and linear pathway.”
The ASFP’s entire training team has been instrumental in creating the content for the system, as well as testing and fine-tuning the user experience. “Their passion and drive to realise the best experience possible is exactly what we need to continue to evolve,” asserted Shipstone, “with 2026 promising new courses and more developments still to be announced.”
Free webinar
The ASFP will be hosting a free webinar for members and non-members where Adam Shipstone and the ASFP training team will demonstrate the new Learning Management System, showcase its key features and answer any questions.
The webinar is scheduled to run on 21 July at noon. Registration is available online
