Association for Specialist Fire Protection achieves ISO 9001 certification
25 July 2023
THE ASSOCIATION for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) is pleased to announce that it has achieved ISO 9001 certification in the wake of a two-stage assessment conducted by UKAS-accredited certification body LRQA.

As part of its continuous drive for improvement, the ASFP began its ISO 9001 certification journey in late 2022. Tariq Malik, the ASFP’s compliance and quality assurance manager, worked diligently to develop a Quality Management System and Quality Manual in line with ISO 9001 requirements.
A Stage One assessment of the ASFP’s systems took place in February this year. During the audit, the organisation’s systems were reviewed to ascertain whether or not all of the requirements specified in ISO 9001 had been put in place. As is the case with any new system, some gaps were identified and LRQA raised five findings for further work.
Having undertaken this work, the ASFP’s Stage Two assessment took place in May. As a result, the organisation was issued with its ISO 9001 certificate last month.
Mike Ward, managing director at the ASFP, stated: “I’m delighted that we’ve achieved this certification and would particularly like to thank Tariq for his hard work in developing our Quality Management System and for guiding the Association successfully through this process.”
Ward added: “Achieving the ISO 9001 certification demonstrates our commitment to members and customers that our products and services will always meet regulatory requirements as well as our customers’ needs. We are always striving to improve.”
