NSI appointed Event Partner for The Fire Safety Event 2024

15 April 2024

THE NATIONAL Security Inspectorate (NSI), the dedicated certification body for fire and security solution providers in the UK, has been appointed as an Event Partner of The Fire Safety Event, the Nineteen Group-organised show taking place at the NEC in Birmingham from 30 April-2 May.

As fire safety continues to ascend the priorities list for companies in every sector, there’s an increasing demand for systems, solutions and services providers to showcase and substantiate their competence.

It’s here that the NSI plays a pivotal role by ensuring companies adhere to stringent standards, Best Practice and accepted competency criteria, thereby safeguarding lives and assets.

As a direct result, the Inspectorate has been witnessing a significant growth in enquiries related to third party certification in the fire safety domain.

Third party certification

Visitors to the NEC later on this month are invited to the NSI’s stand (Stand C127 in Hall 5). The Inspectorate’s experts will be available to discuss the benefits of third party certification, among them enhanced performance, increased customer satisfaction and improved contract acquisition. Guidance will be tailored to individual business needs.

The NSI’s commitment to excellence in the fire safety space is further underscored given that the organisation is a UKAS-accredited certification body licensed by BAFE, enabling third party assessment and certification of BAFE’s Schemes focused on competency.

Since 2002, the NSI has been at the forefront of fire safety certification, becoming the first certification body to be licensed by BAFE for fire detection and fire alarm systems. At present, the NSI is licensed for the majority of BAFE’s Schemes, awarding third party certification for Fire Risk Assessment (BAFE SP205), Fire Extinguisher Maintenance/Servicing (BAFE SP101), Emergency Lighting Systems (BAFE SP203-4), Fixed Gaseous Fire Extinguishing Systems (BAFE SP203-3), Kitchen Fire Protection Systems (BAFE SP206) and Evacuation Alert Systems (BAFE SP207) in addition to Fire Detection and Fire Alarm Systems (BAFE SP203-1).

Annual audits

Organisations seeking inclusion on the BAFE Fire Safety Register must be certified by an accredited certification body like the NSI and undergo annual audits to maintain their certification.

Importantly, NSI-certified and BAFE-registered organisations demonstrate a commitment to competency and undergo rigorous audits to evidence their ongoing competence for specific fire and wider life safety-centred works.

Organisations choosing the NSI as their certification body for one or more of the BAFE Schemes will benefit from the coveted NSI Gold or Silver certification in addition to BAFE registration as soon as certification has been granted.

Premier showcase

With over 175 exhibitors at The Fire Safety Event 2024, visitors will have access to the industry’s leading brands plus 45-plus hours of free-to-attend Continuing Professional Development-certified content including the Fire Safety Leaders Summit.

Seminar delegates will be able to gain direct insight on Best Practice, regulatory updates and areas of topical interest impacting the fire safety sector.

NSI CEO Richard Fogelman commented: “We are thrilled to be appointed an an Event Partner for The Fire Safety Event 2024. The show has fast become the UK’s premier event for fire safety professionals.”

Fogelman continued: “The response we received last year as an exhibitor was fantastic and only strengthened our resolve to further support The Fire Safety Event, which offers visitors many reasons to attend and benefits from being co-located with complementary events including The Security Event, where the NSI is also serving an Event Partner. The team looks forward to meeting visitors in both locations and offering guidance to organisations of all sizes who are interested in third party certification.”
