Institution of Fire Engineers set to hold first hybrid AGM
18 June 2025
FOR THE first time in the organisation’s history, the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) is due to hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in a hybrid format. Taking place on 16 July, members will have the option to attend in-person at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon or otherwise join online via the AGM website.

This move marks a significant step forward for the Institution, duly reflecting its ongoing commitment to accessibility, inclusivity and modern ways of working. By enabling members to attend either in-person or online, the organisation is ensuring broader participation than ever before regardless of location.
Steve Hamm, chief executive at the IFE, commented: “The AGM is a key moment in the IFE’s calendar. It’s a chance for members to hear important updates about our future and achievements to date and also to vote on resolutions. This year’s hybrid format means that members can take part wherever they are in the world. We’re pleased to be making this event as inclusive and accessible as possible.”
Return of the Rasbash Lecture
Following the AGM, the IFE is also hosting the Rasbash Lecture which will be webcast live. This year's lecture will be delivered by Martin Shipp BSc (Physics) CPhys MInstP CEng FIFireE, a highly experienced fire safety specialist with deep expertise in fire investigation and the Building Regulations.
Shipp’s lecture entitled ‘Participating in History: Fire Investigation and Research’ promises to provide valuable insights for all IFE members.
Those attending the AGM and the Rasbash Lecture in-person are invited to join Shipp for an informal drinks reception following the lecture.
A recording of the AGM and the Rasbash Lecture will be made available to members via their MyIFE account in due course.
Booking details
IFE members will receive an e-mail from AGM partner UK Engage containing their unique security code and instructions.
Those planning to attend the AGM and the Rasbash Lecture in-person must register their place via the IFE’s website before 14 July. Click here to book in-person places
