Global Academy achieves Direct Claims Status for passive fire qualifications

10 March 2025

GLOBAL HSE Group has announced that, following a rigorous external quality assurance audit conducted by the awarding body of the Built Environment (ABBE), its Global Academy division has been awarded Direct Claims Status for several of its qualifications. This development underscores the Global Academy’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality training and assessment standards.

External verification by the ABBE affirms that the Global Academy’s courses fully achieve all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria complying with the awarding body’s requirements. In essence, Direct Claims Status allows the Global Academy to issue certificates directly upon successful course completion, thereby expediting the certification process for learners.

The following Global Academy qualifications have now been granted Direct Claims Status by the ABBE:

*ABBE Level 3 Award in Fire Door Inspection

*ABBE Level 3 Award in Understanding and Installing Passive Fire Protection

*ABBE Level 3 Award in Understanding, Maintaining and Repairing Fire Doors

Andrew Cooper, managing director of Global HSE Group, commented: “Achieving Direct Claims Status is testament to the quality of our qualifications and the dedication of our training team. This recognition from the ABBE enables us to provide an even more efficient certification process for our learners, ensuring they receive their qualifications promptly and can apply their skills in the industry without delay.”

Cooper added: “We created the Global Academy with the objective of upskilling and enhancing individual knowledge within the fire industry in order to guarantee fire doors and passive fire protection systems are being maintained properly, ensuring the integrity of the buildings in which they reside and, ultimately, protecting lives.”

Global Academy is the training division of Global HSE Group, which specialises in passive fire protection and technical fire consultancy. Global Academy is wholly committed to delivering high-quality training qualifications that empower individuals and organisations to achieve a demonstrable level of confidence.

Global HSE Group fully expects that Direct Claims Status will be awarded to the ABBE Level 3 Award in Understanding and Installing Fire Doors following the next course delivery and subsequent verification by the ABBE.

Completion of ISO 14001 certification

Global HSE Group has also announced the successful completion of its ISO 14001:2015 certification for Environmental Management Systems, an achievement underscoring the company’s commitment to the environment, sustainability and responsible business practices.

Alongside the company’s existing ISO 9001 (Quality Management Systems) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety) certifications, the addition of ISO 14001 means that Global HSE Group now holds the core standards that make up SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment and Quality). This comprehensive suite of certifications demonstrates an holistic approach to managing risk, ensuring quality and protecting people and the planet.

Andrew Cooper observed: “Completion of ISO 14001 certification is a significant milestone for Global HSE Group, particularly so as we continue to strengthen our core service offer in the fire safety domain. It demonstrates our strong dedication to reduce our environmental footprint and ensure sustainability across our operations and services.”

ISO 14001 is an internationally recognised standard that provides a framework for organisations to effectively manage their environmental responsibilities. Achieving this certification demonstrates Global HSE Group’s dedication to regulatory compliance and meeting (and exceeding) all relevant environmental legislation and regulations.

Environmental responsibility
