BSI seeks feedback on use of BSI Flex 8670 Version 3.0

07 September 2021

THE BRITISH Standards Institution (BSI) has announced the release of the third and final version of BSI Flex 8670: Version 3.0 Built Environment – Core Criteria for Building Safety in Competence Frameworks – Code of Practice and is now seeking feedback on the document.

This BSI Flex is the result of the Advisory Group reaching consensus on the comments received during two public consultations, with those outcomes being adopted into the standard. Although the BSI Flex development process has now concluded, BSI Flex 8670 will be transitioning into BS 8670 in 2022.

In the interim period, Version 3 of BSI Flex 8670 is available to download and use from the following link: https://www.bsigroup.com/en-GB/industries-and-sectors/construction-and-the-built-environment/built-environment-competence-standards/

Industry practitioners are advised to click on the link directly below the header to access Version 3 of BSI Flex 8670. The link also directs individuals to supporting documentation which provides the context for the work, how people should interact with BSI Flex 8670 and the process going forward. Anyone who’s currently not familiar with the work programme is advised to read these documents.

First and foremost, the BSI is now seeking feedback on using BSI Flex 8670 in the hope that BS 8670 can be made even better. Specific questions can be answered via the feedback form. Clause by clause comments can be made through the BSI’s standards development portal.

Unless the BSI receives authoritative advice to withdraw it, BSI Flex 8670 will be available until BS 8670 is published. The BSI has requested that industry keeps using BSI Flex 8670 until such time that it’s either superseded or withdrawn.
