Appointments announced for Global HSE Group’s Global Technical Services division
10 October 2025
GLOBAL TECHNICAL Services, the division of Global HSE Group focused on comprehensive fire safety and technical consultancy, has announced two new appointments. Iain Martin joins in the role of fire engineer, while Begoña Martinez is appointed to the position of façades technical consultant.

Iain Martin brings over 13 years of dedicated fire engineering experience, with a proven track record of leading diverse fire safety projects and teams. Based in Scotland, Martin’s role will involve leading fire analyses and risk assessments and presenting them to clients and authorities.
Martin is known for his pragmatic approach, an ability to improve understanding for all stakeholders and the delivery of precise and efficient fire engineering solutions. His extensive experience includes applying excellent working knowledge of UK-wide fire safety guidance and the Building Regulations to ensure projects are delivered to the highest standards of compliance and safety.
Further, Martin harbours strong relationships with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, local Building Control authorities across the UK and various approved inspectors, which will facilitate smooth project progression and timely approvals.
Ross O’Loughlin, director and head of Global Technical Services, commented: “I’m delighted that Iain has joined Global Technical Services. His extensive experience, deep technical knowledge and strong relationships within the fire safety community, particularly so in Scotland, will be invaluable as we continue to expand our services and uphold our commitment to delivering safer buildings and environments for our clients.”
Commenting on his new role, Martin observed: “I’m thrilled to have joined Global Technical Services, a company that shares my dedication to fire safety. I look forward to using my experience to contribute towards the team’s success, making sure that buildings are compliant, supporting our clients in navigating complex fire safety requirements and further strengthening Global’s position as a leader in the field.”
The appointment marks an exciting chapter for Global Technical Services as it continues to grow its capabilities in Scotland and reinforces its position as a trusted leader in fire safety.
Focusing on façades
Begoña Martinez is the new façades technical consultant at Global Technical Services. This key hire significantly enhances the company’s specialist façade expertise for its growing division.
Martinez is a Master Architect, RIBA and ARB chartered, holds a Master’s degree in Building Services Engineering and boasts extensive experience as a principal partner spanning over 16 years in both architecture and building quality control.
Her background lends itself towards a comprehensive understanding of project delivery across all RIBA stages. Known for her strong attention to detail and knowledge of fire safety compliance, Martinez ensures quality and safety from design through to completion.
Before joining Global Technical Services, Martinez served as a principal façade engineering consultant at AECOM and Wintech, and also as a project manager for the British Board of Agrément, focusing in particular on certification and the assessment of external wall systems/cladding.
Ross O’Loughlin stated: “Bringing Begoña into our team represents a pivotal moment for Global Technical Services. Her knowledge in façade technical consultancy, honed over many years in architecture and building quality control, is a great addition to the façades team.”
Sharing thoughts on the new role, Martinez said: “Joining Global Technical Services presents an exciting opportunity to apply my specialised façade knowledge within a forward-thinking and client-focused organisation. I’m particularly keen to contribute towards projects that demand stringent quality and safety. I look forward to collaborating with the team to achieve outstanding results in building envelope performance.”
