Chartered fire engineer Russ Timpson joins Global HSE Group
18 June 2025
FIRE SAFETY specialist the Global HSE Group has announced that Russ Timpson, founder and organiser of the Tall Building Fire Safety Network, has now joined the business, which continues to maintain a keen focus on passive fire protection and technical fire consultancy.

Timpson has been nationally recognised for his work on (and contribution towards) fire safety with a long list of awards, including being judged as one of the Top 10 influencers in the UK when it comes to fire safety.
His previous experience includes leading the response to the major fire at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 1 and contributing to several major airport construction projects, among them the skyway at Gatwick Airport and Terminal 5 at Heathrow.
Timpson being part of the team solidifies the Global HSE Group mantra of ‘Do It Right’, affording clients an extra layer of reassurance that projects are delivered by only the very best in the industry. Going forward, Timpson will be supporting the façades team and helping to drive professional development and competence.
The Tall Building Fire Safety Network is an approved Training Centre with Skills for Justice that has been delivering high-rise fire safety training since 2011. Indeed, many organisations rely on the Network’s training for individual competency in this vitally important domain.
On that note, Timpson’s experience of organising the Tall Building Fire Safety Network affords the team at HSE Global Group industry-leading insights into the ever-increasing fire safety requirements and legislation for tall buildings. Timpson will be a valuable asset when it comes to supporting workflow and output in terms of quality reporting and the assessment of buildings.
Setting challenges
Ross O’Loughlin, director at the Global HSE Group, commented: “I’m delighted to welcome Russ to our growing and very capable team of experienced and qualified fire engineers. I’ve known him for some time now and always enjoy the challenges he sets the industry through his work on the Tall Building Fire Safety Network.”
O’Loughlin added: “Our discussions around making sure fire safety in tall buildings is right have always been fascinating. This appointment is exciting for the whole team. His experience and ability to adapt to change and innovation make Russ the perfect fit for galvanising our consultancy and challenging us to continue to develop and succeed.”
Timpson responded: “I’ve known the Global HSE Group team for a while now, through the industry and the Tall Building Fire Safety Network, and have always been deeply impressed by the quality of the company’s work, the profound level of fire safety knowledge exhibited and the professionalism of the staff. I’m excited to be part of the team, lending my experience to projects and contributing to the ongoing development of Best Practice in fire safety.”
The appointment comes at a time when Global Technical Services, the award-winning fire safety consultancy division of the Global HSE Group, is seeing substantial growth internally after conducting hundreds of fire risk appraisals of external walls and examining 75 building safety cases last year alone, coupled with the delivery of Building Safety Regulator (BSR) applications and further BSR-related work.
