Consort Insurance joins list of CCPI Demand-Side Supporters

26 March 2025

LEADING INSURANCE broker Consort Insurance has stepped up to become the first insurance company to join the dedicated cohort of Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI) Demand-Side Supporters.

The business joins a growing community of leading organisations – including major housebuilders, developers and contractors – who’ve joined CCPI as part of its important mission to drive a transformational step-change in product information management and marketing across the built environment.

Amanda Long, CEO at Construction Product Information (itself the not-for-profit organisation set-up to guard the CCPI and independently assess CCPI conformance) explained: “It’s so impressive to see an insurance company recognising the importance and value of the CCPI and its assessment processes. As the first insurer to step up, I warmly welcome Consort Insurance and congratulate the business on its leadership.”

Long added: “The growth of CCPI Demand-Side Supporters strongly signals CCPI as a ‘must have’ for businesses that want to be part of the future of the industry. Watch this space for more announcements to come on those organisations stepping up to support CCPI and play their part to raise standards across the industry in product information management and marketing. They’re supporting building safety and much needed culture change in favour of greater transparency and accountability.”

Professional rigour

Daniel Harwood, managing director of Consort Insurance, informed Fire Safety Matters: “Over the course of developing our specialist and exclusive Insurance Programme, namely Consort PaD, we have witnessed significant advancements in legislation and adaptations to governance within the built environment, particularly so for designers, contractors, manufacturers and consultants.”

Harwood continued: “However, as all professionals understand, the effectiveness of any individual is closely tied to their tools. The quality of those tools and materials depends on the care, expertise and professional rigour involved in their manufacture and marketing.”

With this in mind, Consort Insurance “wholeheartedly supports” the CCPI pledge as an important and necessary step forward for the industry. “The work being undertaken by CCPI will help to enhance the quality and conformity of products used in construction,” urged Harwood, “while recognising and rewarding robust governance practices. This aligns perfectly with Consort Insurance’s own commitment to promote Best Practice and champion ‘Best of Sector’ standards within the built environment and the fire sector.

Further, Harwood noted: “At Consort Insurance, we are proud of our PaD Insurance Programme, an exclusive facility designed specifically for companies exposed to fire risk. This initiative was developed to address critical challenges in the professional indemnity space within the fire and construction sectors. Built from the ground up with the support of a trusted insurance network, PaD reflects our dedication to providing innovative and reliable solutions.”

Influence in the built environment

CCPI Demand-Side Supporters are leading organisations who have pledged support for the CCPI and also committed to use their influence in the built environment supply ecosystem in order to drive CCPI conformance and raise standards in the industry.

In becoming a CCPI Demand-Side Supporter, Consort Insurance is committing to encourage customers who work in relation to the built environment (be they clients, designers, specifiers, consultants, contractors, developers, suppliers or manufacturers) to engage with the CCPI and become a Demand-Side Supporter or undergo the relevant CCPI assessment.

This commitment will be introduced into appropriate communications as a preference with the aim of achieving CCPI engagement by all strategic customers within three years of the date of signing the pledge at the latest.
