IFE installs new international president at 99th Annual General Meeting
25 October 2022
THE INSTITUTION of Fire Engineers has used the occasion of the organisation’s 99th Annual General Meeting to name its new international president for 2022-2023. Dr Peter Wilkinson CSci MIScT CEng FIFireE was installed in the role on Tuesday 18 October.

The handover procedure was carried out by Andrew Sharrad GradCert EngTech CFIFireE, who served as international president from 2020-2022. A recording of the handover and the Annual General Meeting (AGM) itself will be made available to Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) members in due course.
Wilkinson has been involved with the IFE for many years now, representing the organisation on national and international professional forums, contributing to post-Grenfell Tower initiatives in the UK and worldwide, driving the development and remit of the Technical Strategy Advisory Group and, more recently, leading the IFE on technical matters in the role of technical director.
A Chartered Engineer, a Chartered Scientist and also a registered fire risk assessor, Wilkinson has been leading the independent safety, fire and risk engineering practice he founded since 2012.
On becoming international president of the IFE, Wilkinson commented: “It’s truly an honour to be the IFE’s international president for 2022-2023. My aim for the next year is to strengthen the ties between the IFE and as many of the other major bodies in the fire safety sector as possible.”
As international president, Wilkinson sits on the IFE’s Board of Trustee Directors. Through his work, he will support both the Board of Trustee Directors and the IFE’s worldwide branches in the shared mission of creating and maintaining a fire-safe future.
