Surpass Assessment appointed digital assessment provider by FireQual
29 June 2026
FIREQUAL, THE awarding organisation for the UK’s fire safety sector, has taken a significant step forward in the delivery of its regulated qualifications by appointing Surpass Assessment as its digital assessment provider. Following a successful implementation this month, FireQual is now delivering live examinations across the country through Surpass Assessment.

As part of BAFE Holdings, FireQual provides nationally recognised qualifications regulated by Ofqual and accredited by Qualifications Scotland in order to support the professional development of individuals and organisations alike working across fire safety and compliance.
Through its new partnership with Surpass Assessment, FireQual has modernised its assessment delivery to enhance efficiency, flexibility and scalability for learners and Approved Training Centres.
Surpass Assessment is currently being used to deliver both in-centre examinations and online assessments through its ‘record and review’ functionality. The platform provides FireQual with a streamlined and robust way in which to assess practical skills, while maintaining the rigour expected of regulated qualifications.
Full integration with FireQual’s Salesforce CRM also helps to ensure that information moves smoothly between systems, thereby providing greater visibility throughout the assessment process.
Cornerstone of competence
Dr Justin Maltby-Smith, CEO of BAFE Holdings, commented: “Confidence in the fire safety sector starts with competence. Recognised qualifications are the cornerstone of that competence. We’re delighted to partner with Surpass Assessment as the system gives us the flexibility and control we need to deliver high-quality and regulated qualifications across the fire sector, while at the same time enhancing the experience for our Approved Training Centres and learners.”
Sonya Whitworth, co-CEO at Surpass Assessment, added: “We’re proud to support FireQual as the organisation modernises its assessment delivery. FireQual’s commitment to quality and innovation aligns perfectly with our own, and we’re delighted to help enable a more efficient, scalable and future-ready assessment experience for its Approved Training Centres and candidates.”
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to delivering secure and high-quality digital assessments, while in parallel supporting continued growth across the fire sector.
