Fire Industry Association unveils programme for inaugural FIA Conference
23 August 2022
THE INAUGURAL Fire Industry Association (FIA) Conference takes place on Wednesday 14 September at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. Following on from FIM Expo, which runs at the same venue on the previous day, the Trade Association will be reviewing how the fire industry has changed in the aftermath of the Grenfell Tower tragedy of June 2017.
To be delivered under the heading: ‘What Has Changed in a Post-Grenfell World?’, the FIA Conference is going to highlight the developments made in the wake of the Grenfell Tower fire and focus on how the industry as a whole can continue to put its best foot forward.
Huw Jakeway (chief fire officer at the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service) is going to deliver the keynote at conference. In addition, there will be presentations from industry experts including Iain Bowker (joint owner and director at Ensure Safety and Compliance). Bowker is going to focus his attentions on the impact of the Fire Safety Act 2021 and the Building Safety Act 2022 when it comes to fire risk assessments.
Importantly, FIA CEO Ian Moore will be delivering a presentation on the Building Safety Information Portal, while the Trade Association’s technical manager Will Lloyd talks about documentation and special inspections.
Conference also contains a host of Continuing Professional Development seminars courtesy of representatives from FIA member companies Advanced, C-TEC, Tio Fire Safety and Aico. These sessions are designed to cover a range of topics including emergency lighting, BS 5839 Part 6 Grade C, digital fire logbooks and remote access to data.
