Amthal Fire & Security celebrates duo of wins at Chamber of Commerce Awards

27 October 2022

AMTHAL FIRE & Security is celebrating a duo of award wins. At the recent St Albans Chamber of Commerce Community Business Awards, CEO Jamie Allam was named as winner of the Business Leader of the Year category. In tandem, Alex Dearden was awarded the silver prize for Apprentice of the Year at the Watford and West Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce Awards.

Allam, who’s a second time winner of the Business Leader of the Year category, was recognised for his ability to lead Amthal Fire & Security on a “continued and ambitious” growth plan, while also maintaining the company’s roots as an independent and family-owned business.

Amthal Fire & Security has grown exponentially in the face of a difficult business environment, most recently acquiring majority shares in Midlands-based Integrated Protection Maintenance Services Ltd to ensure that it can offer full security and fire safety services across a greater footprint.

On receiving the award, Allam said: “When I joined the company in 2008, there were 30 team members. In 2022, we have a dedicated senior management team and have grown to a team of over 71 members throughout the Group business. Even with the inclusion of Integrated Protection Maintenance Services Ltd, we have never lost our commitment to our roots and the importance of community, which has been an integral part of our growth, and especially so through the last few years. I’m truly grateful to win this award and thankful to the judges for this prestigious recognition.”

Commitment to apprenticeships

Internal sales executive for the business, Alex Dearden’s silver accolade in the Apprentice of the Year category at the Watford and West Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce Awards amply demonstrates Amthal Fire & Security’s commitment to apprenticeships.

Speaking about the award, Dearden explained: “Every apprentice learns from a true master and I’ve had the pleasure of working with the best in the business. To have completed my apprenticeship during the pandemic was tough, but the support of Amthal Fire & Security’s senior management team has been incredible and I’m so grateful. Winning this award means everything and inspires me even more to continue to learn at a business that has so much to offer and offers me room to grow in terms of my own personal development.”

Job-specific skills

Jamie Allam noted: “We are absolutely thrilled for Alex. His award is testament to our commitment to apprentices, which is something we have dedicated our time towards and invested in from the moment when Amthal Fire & Security was established in 2000. We want to encourage job-specific skills. This is something we will continue to support as we grow as a business.”

Allam went on to state: “The two awards really highlight the strength in Amthal’s team. I’m particularly proud of that. We work together rather than as a group of departments, all for the benefit of delivering on customer excellence, right from the initial design and specification of security and fire safety solutions through to installation, maintenance and monitoring.”
