ASFP to hold regional seminar at Headingley Carnegie Stadium
06 March 2023
THE ASSOCIATION for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) is holding a regional seminar on Tuesday 14 March at Headingley Carnegie Stadium, the home of Super League rugby club Leeds Rhinos. The event, which runs from 10.00 am until 3.30 pm, will explore Best Practice in the design and installation of passive fire protection solutions.

The ASFP’s technical and regulatory affairs officer Niall Rowan will introduce the session on ‘Best Practice in Design’, while Dr Andy Taylor is scheduled to deliver a regulatory update, reviewing the development of the Building Safety Act 2022 and investigating the potential impact of secondary legislation arising from it. Rowan and Taylor will chair Q&A sessions during the day.
Throughout the morning, a series of expert industry speakers will consider the processes and competences necessary to achieve Best Practice in the design of three different forms of passive fire protection. In the afternoon, they will discuss how to ensure Best Practice in the installation of three different forms of passive fire protection.
Scheduled speakers harbour a great deal of expertise when it comes to the design, manufacture and installation of passive fire protection systems. They include Allan Jowsey (a passive fire protection specialist), Bhiki Patel (from Hempel), Damien Ward (representing Checkmate Fire Solutions), Douglas Masterson (from the Guild of Architectural Ironmongers), Paul McSoley (of the Mace Group) and David Harding (Actionair by Swegon).
The seminar will offer attendees the opportunity to network with industry specialists, ASFP members and representatives from event sponsors One Trace and the SFS Group.
With tickets priced at £60 plus VAT for ASFP members and £90 for non-members, the seminar promises to deliver valuable insight for those involved in passive fire protection system design, specification, purchasing, installation, inspection and maintenance.
All delegates will be awarded three Continuing Professional Development hours and qualify for a ‘Certificate of Attendance’.
