Wireless devices from Hyfire protect Bournemouth’s Queens Hotel

05 July 2026

TAURUS WIRELESS devices from Hyfire have recently been installed at the elegant Queens Hotel and Spa in Bournemouth. The project has been delivered in conjunction with partner Team Services Consultancy, duly helping to enhance fire safety throughout the coastal property.

Located on Bournemouth’s prestigious East Cliff, the development combines contemporary comfort, luxury spa facilities and exceptional hospitality in a prime seaside setting that overlooks the Blue Flag beaches.

According to research conducted by the National Coastal Tourism Academy in 2013, Bournemouth was found to be one of the top coastal destinations. The more than one million visitors who visit the coastal town and stay overnight generate upwards of £180 million for the local economy. Further, 68% of all holidaymakers decide to stay in serviced accommodation where fire safety is of paramount importance.

Seamless solution

Wireless fire devices were an obvious choice for the installers at Team Services Consultancy as they offer the flexibility to operate both wired and wireless devices from a single fire alarm panel, in turn making the system easier to manage and maintain.

Further, due to Taurus’ ease of installation, the team was able to conduct a thorough survey to establish the wireless requirements before installing the system in its entirety.

Another key advantage is that the wireless devices use standard batteries, making replacements simple and cost-effective. By comparison, many competing wireless systems rely on batteries with proprietary PCB assemblies, which can significantly increase replacement costs over the lifetime of the product.

Helen Millward, director and fire risk assessor at Team Services Consultancy, commented: “The whole system had to be upgraded during the Hotel’s maintenance shut down period, which meant the team didn’t have much time. Fortunately, Hyfire’s Taurus wireless system, paired with the wiring in the basement, made for the ideal solution.”

Successful outcome

The completed installation has provided the Queens Hotel and Spa with a reliable and fully compliant fire detection solution, enhancing guest safety while overcoming the challenges posed by the building’s structure.

By combining wired infrastructure in the basement with Hyfire’s Taurus wireless technology throughout the remaining floors, Team Services Consultancy delivered the project within the restricted maintenance window, minimising disruption and ensuring the hotel was ready to welcome guests with confidence.

This project demonstrates how flexible wireless fire systems can provide an effective solution for complex hospitality environments where traditional cabling is deemed impractical.
