Two hour-rated version of RH25 rainscreen cavity barrier launched by Siderise
22 January 2025
IN ORDER to meet the growing industry demand for fire resistance performance that goes beyond the standard requirements, passive fire protection solutions manufacturer Siderise has now launched a two hour-rated version of its RH25 rainscreen horizontal cavity barrier, which is suitable for air gaps of up to 25 mm.

The RH cavity barrier has been developed to meet the complex requirements of ventilated cladding systems. The Lamella stone wool barrier includes an integral strip of intumescent material along the leading edge which, when exposed to temperatures of greater than 130°C, exfoliates to close the residual gap and prevent the spread of fire within the time required by the relevant test standard.
This latest version of the product achieves 120 minutes of Integrity (E) and Insulation (I) when tested to the Association for Specialist Fire Protection’s Technical Guidance Document 19 (prEN 1364-6) entitled ‘Fire Resistance Test of Open State Cavity Barriers’ following the strict furnace controls set by BS EN 1363-1:2020. This performance has been independently assessed and is IFC certified (IFCC 1712).
As a core product, the RH cavity barrier also has been put through EOTA TR 024 ‘Type X’ accelerated age testing to confirm its long-term durability. This is the most rigorous category available, replicating exposure to rain, ultraviolet, high temperatures and frost and thaw cycles. This testing has proven that the cavity barrier harbours a 60-year design life.
Importantly, all of Siderise’s products are supported by the company’s technical ‘wrapper’, which is designed to support the passive fire safety of projects from initial design all the way through to handover coupled with a range of services for design advice, training and inspection.
