Ridge and Partners appoints engineering duo to lead on fire safety
03 July 2023
RIDGE AND Partners LLP, the multidisciplinary property and construction consultancy, has appointed a duo of specialist fire engineers – namely Keith Todd and Steve Manchester – to lead on fire safety and fire expert witness-focused issues.

Todd joins Ridge from the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, where he served as head of fire safety. Last year, Todd won the Fire Safety Manager of the Year category at the Fire and Security Matters Awards for his work in the London Borough following the Grenfell Tower fire.
He also scooped the 2022 Research Project of the Year Award from The Worshipful Company of Firefighters for his research on fire modelling and human behaviour in heritage buildings.
Following his appointment, Ridge now leads the fire safety consultancy team at Ridge.
Armed with 17 years’ experience in fire risk assessment and fire safety design in a range of sectors, Todd is a third party registered fire risk assessor and fire risk assessment validator, a Chartered Building Engineer and an incorporated engineer with a first class Honours degree in Fire Risk Engineering.
Expert witness
For his part, Steve Manchester is a renowned fire safety and explosions expert boasting 33 years’ experience. A Chartered Fire Engineer specialising in fire safety engineering, fire risk assessments and fire and explosion hazards within industrial premises, processes and materials, Manchester joins the Ridge established expert witness team.
In practice, Ridge assesses design, specification, workmanship and construction defects, as well as the impact of design and workmanship defects and physical building defects, their causes and remediation.
Manchester investigates fires and provides independent advice to parties involved in disputes.
Ridge and Partners LLP was established in 1946. Now a Top 15 consultancy by turnover, the company employs upwards of 1,000 members of staff based out of 12 locations across the UK.
