NW Security Group signs strategic agreement with Arcules as ‘Cloud CCTV’ sees increased adoption in UK

11 January 2021

IP VIDEO surveillance integrator NW Security Group has signed a partnership agreement with unified intelligent Security-as-a-Service solutions provider Arcules. The latter’s Video Surveillance-as-a-Service platform provides organisations with an underlying cloud infrastructure which offers features such as compatibility between sites, low video latency, data encryption, redundancy, streamlined maintenance, automatic firmware updates and easy on-boarding, all built on the Google Cloud Platform.

Google Cloud offers several major advantages for those exploring the migration of their CCTV system to the cloud. First, Google has invested in building its own Data Centres around Europe which can ensure that new data privacy requirements enshrined under the General Data Protection Regulation are met, while simultaneously minimising data latency to a few microseconds. This is something that’s crucial in the live monitoring of CCTV, for example.

Google Cloud also offers considerable strength in harnessing Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things. This capability can help users match CCTV camera data with data from other connected sensors in order to add richness to their understanding of security incidents.

In turn, that asists companies to become more proactive and predictive in their security operations. It also makes it easier to extract business intelligence which can be put to work to find efficiencies and improve profitability.

Arcules offers a fully-open platform including support for over 3,000 IP camera models. This enables customers to migrate their existing surveillance cameras to an Arcules Cloud account without the need to buy new cameras.

Spun out of Milestone Systems three years ago, Arcules also benefits from tight integration with the Video Management Software (VMS) specialist. This allows Milestone XProtect customers to make smaller remote sites live on a faster basis and with minimal IT resources and downtime using the Arcules-XProtect Hybrid VMS solution. Arcules remains a Canon Group company together with both Milestone and Axis Communications.

Cusp of acceleration

Frank Crouwel (pictured), managing director of the NW Security Group, commented: “We’re right on the cusp of an acceleration in the migration of CCTV systems to the cloud. Over two-thirds of medium and large-sized firms based in England and operating in the private sector and 43% of public sector organisations we surveyed in September 2020 last year are planning to migrate their CCTV systems to the cloud within the next 12 months.”

He continued: “It’s important to have well developed services for helping firms to migrate CCTV to the cloud. Arcules now offers the right combination of a highly secure, yet open and flexible cloud CCTV platform with easy on-boarding paths for customers. We’re very pleased to be Arcules’ first integrator partner for the UK.”

Michael Hyglid, sales director for the EMEA region at Arcules, responded: “NW Security Group is set to be a key partner for us in the UK. Unusually, it has a broad base of customers who prefer to buy equipment direct, often via its specialist IP CCTV online store Networkwebcams.co.uk. NW Security then helps many of these companies to integrate and configure this equipment such that it works on an optimal basis.”

Hyglid added: “The business also understands that some customers are likely to favour buying surveillance capabilities via OPEX rather than incurring considerable CAPEX which is where Arcules has a lot to offer. I’ve also been impressed by NW Security Group’s knowledge of other cloud providers.”

According to Hyglid, NW Security Group also “understood right away” that Arcules’ offer isn’t just about a software solution that has been ported into the cloud. “It’s a 100% ‘cloud first’ platform built on leading cloud tools and principles. NW Security Group also understands where we are today and the strength of our technology roadmap.”
