MxPro 5 panels installed to safeguard fans and stands at The Den
05 August 2024
HOME TO EFL Championship side Millwall Football Club, The Den has been enhanced thanks to an upgraded fire safety system. Trustee Fire & Security Ltd has recently installed a series of Advanced panels, thereby delivering a new level of protection and reassurance for staff and supporters alike.

Located in London’s South Bermondsey, The Den (originally dubbed The New Den) has been home to Millwall Football Club since 1993 when the move was made from the previous site at Cold Blow Lane in New Cross.
With a seating capacity of 20,146, the £16 million stadium was constructed on a previous site of housing, a church and the Senegal Fields playgrounds. Indeed, it was the first new all-seater stadium in England to be completed in the wake of the Taylor Report focused on the Hillsborough tragedy of 1989.
On 20 January 2011, the East Stand of The Den was renamed as the Dockers Stand, paying tribute to Millwall’s early history and supporter base of Thames dockers. The South Stand is known as the Cold Blow Lane Stand, which was the name of the road which led into The Old Den. The North Stand accommodates visiting supporters, while the West Stand was renamed the Barry Kitchener Stand after Millwall’s longest-serving player. This stand houses the family enclosure, the press box and executive seats.
Project details
The project involved replacing the existing fire system with Advanced’s MxPro 5 panels, which have been meticulously installed across four separate stands. This upgrade has not only modernised fire safety capabilities, but the installation also integrates seamlessly with the stadium’s existing infrastructure to provide continuous protection.
Kristina Matthews, project administrator for Trustee Fire & Security, told Fire Safety Matters: “The installation at The Den is testament to our team members’ skills and the versatility of Advanced’s products. Working closely with Millwall FC, we’ve been able to deliver a state-of-the-art fire safety solution and enhanced protection for all users of the stadium.”
Salvy Vittozzi, regional sales manager for the South East at Advanced, added: “We’re proud to have contributed to the safety enhancements at Millwall FC’s historic home ground. The MxPro 5 offers unparalleled reliability and adaptability, making it perfectly suited to the dynamic environment of The Den. This successful collaboration underscores our commitment to building protection and ensuring the fire safety of their users.”
Multiprotocol fire panel
MxPro 5 is a multiprotocol fire panel that’s certified by FM Approvals to the EN 54 standard. It offers customers a choice of detector protocols and a completely open installer network, all of which is underpinned by free training and technical support.
MxPro 5 can be used in single-loop, single-panel format or otherwise easily configured into high-speed networks of up to 200 panels covering large areas.
According to Advanced, ease of installation and configuration, as well as its wide range of peripheral options, mean that MxPro 5 is customisable for almost any application.
