Josh Nicholls appointed construction support manager at Promat

03 September 2026

PASSIVE FIRE protection solutions developer Promat has appointed Josh Nicholls in the role of construction support manager for the Midlands, the North of England and Ireland, thereby improving access to help and advice for contractors as the industry continues to navigate evolving – and often complex – Building Regulations.

In his new role, Nicholls is working alongside Promat’s architectural specification managers to deliver technical advice for customers during the construction phase. Often visiting sites in person, Nicholls acts as a key and tangible point of contact for all site-based queries in the relevant regions.

Nicholls provides face-to-face and remote technical guidance, helping customers to navigate Promat-focused construction details, product fitting queries, classification testing and practical workarounds for on-site challenges.

Regulatory requirements

The appointment comes at a time when the industry faces challenging regulatory requirements introduced in the Building Safety Act 2022 and the Fire Safety Act 2021, as well as tight project turnaround times compounded by an ongoing sector-wide skills shortage.

By designating construction support managers for designated regions, Promat is demonstrating its commitment to increasing access to support across the sector, particularly so for contractors who meet industry challenges on a daily basis.

“There’s rarely a perfect scenario in construction,” explained Nicholls. “Real-world sites often don’t match the tested ideal, while tight project timelines can make challenges seem even more daunting.”

Nicholls continued: “It’s so important that contractors can easily access technical support at every stage of development. In-person and remote guidance can make a huge difference in quickly resolving any practical issues, ensuring that projects stay on track and remain safe and efficient.”

Ultimate goal

In conclusion, Nicholls observed: “By working closely with our customers, we can also better understand how manufacturers like us are able to enhance our level of support, which is the ultimate goal.”

Equipped with more than eight years of experience in the construction industry, Nicholls has a background in technical R&D. Experience at working cross-functionally across marketing, production and quality teams, Nicholls joins Promat with an in-depth and practical knowledge of construction challenges.
