Promat’s specification team strengthened by duo of appointments
07 June 2024
PASSIVE FIRE protection solutions developer Promat has appointed Joshua Slack in the role of commercial director, while Harvey Brown AIFireE takes on the role of national specification manager.

Slack (pictured, above) has served as the company’s national specification manager for the previous three years. In his new role, he will work across the Promat specification and commercial sales teams and take responsibility for the sales growth of Promat here in the UK.
Having worked within Promat for nearly eight years, Slack brings a wealth of experience in the specification and application of passive fire protection products to his new role. He holds the Institution of Fire Engineers-devised Level 3 Certificate in Passive Fire Protection and brings a wide understanding of construction to bear, having previously worked as a chartered surveyor.
Resident with the business for the last five years, Harvey Brown (pictured, right) has gained extensive experience of supporting architects and specification managers in the accurate design of passive fire protection solutions.
Going forward, Brown will now manage a team of specification managers to support designers in developing solutions that meet specific project demands.
Time of change
Slack observed: “Promat is dedicated to providing the highest levels of support throughout the specification process to ensure that passive fire protection systems are correctly specified and will meet the required safety standards.”
He continued: “This is a time of change for the passive fire protection industry with the recent introduction of the Building Safety Act 2022 and the need for early specification. The specification team at Promat is heavily invested in offering the support needed to raise standards for life-critical products and supporting the drive to ensure greater compliance and safer buildings.”
Slack concluded: “Myself and Harvey look forward to working with key stakeholders to help ensure the safety of their projects.”
Specialist fire protection systems
For more than 60 years now, Promat has been designing, manufacturing and testing specialist fire protection systems. This means that customers benefit from a complete portfolio of products from which they can seek to build a certified fire safety solution that is right for their projects.
Promat is part of Etex Building Performance, playing a key role in the latter’s overriding mission to build living spaces that are safer, smarter and more sustainable.
Etex’s combined expertise in drywall, passive fire protection and steel framing systems has created a range of solutions covering everything from the building envelope through to internal linings, partitions and penetrations.
