Advanced welcomes John Newbury as product management and digital director
25 October 2023
FIRE SAFETY solutions manufacturer Advanced has announced the appointment of John Newbury in the role of product management and digital director. With a background in the fire industry that spans two decades, Newbury brings a wealth of expertise in fire protection systems to the role.

Newbury has spent the last seven years at Ramtech (which sits within Advanced’s Halma plc sister company Orama) where he played a pivotal role in the development of WES wireless fire and evacuation alarm systems.
In his previous role as product innovation director, Newbury demonstrated his passion for product strategy, product management and product innovation, duly steering the company towards significant achievements.
Speaking about his new appointment, Newbury told Fire Safety Matters: “Advanced is a high-value brand underpinned by high-quality products, a global reach and an exciting roadmap of innovation. It’s the perfect time for me to be joining what is an amazing business.”
In his role, Newbury will work to evaluate new opportunities for products, customers and sectors, all the while emphasising the importance of clear product strategy in driving business success. His passion for innovation and technology aligns seamlessly with Advanced’s commitment to advancing life safety through the delivery of cutting-edge solutions.
“What really excites me about the job is the team at Advanced,” continued Newbury. “It’s still very early days, but I’ve already seen a culture across the business and an energy from the people that work at Advanced that I’ve not really experienced anywhere until now.”
Antonio Telesca, managing director of Advanced, observed: “We are thrilled to welcome John to our team. His extensive experience and passion for innovation will undoubtedly drive our product strategy going forward, ensuring that we continue to lead the market with our renowned fire safety solutions.”
Advanced’s systems protect prestigious properties and their occupants around the world. Projects with which the company has been involved include The Shard and 22 Bishopsgate in London, as well as iconic international treasures such as Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, right through to vibrant transport hubs (Abu Dhabi Airport among them).
Advanced’s products – from single-panel installations to large, multi-site networks – are specified globally. The Advanced product portfolio includes complete fire detection systems, multiprotocol fire panels, extinguishing control, false alarm management and reduction solutions and emergency lighting and evacuation alert systems.
