Historic Timothy Taylor’s Brewery safeguarded by Hyfire
02 October 2023
KEIGHLEY’S TIMOTHY Taylor’s Brewery, which is renowned for its popular Landlord cask ale, has been privy to a significant fire safety upgrade thanks to PWP Fire & Security. The team has installed over 300 Taurus wireless fire devices from Hyfire, in turn helping to protect the beloved local brewery site where the oldest buildings date back to 1863.

The family-owned brewery required a comprehensive upgrade of its fire systems in order to realise the highest standards of protection for visitors and staff alike, while also respecting the fabric and heritage of its historic structures.
Traditionally, the fire protection system would have required complex cabling due to the age and layout of the buildings. Hyfire's Taurus devices, coupled with Advanced’s MxPro 5 fire panels using AlarmCalm false alarm management, deliver an optimal solution that ensured swift installation, reduced costs and minimal interference at the premises.
Gavin Clarke, head of fire at PWP Fire & Security, explained: “Preserving the integrity of such an historic site, while at the same time enhancing fire safety, was something of a challenge for us. Hyfire’s Taurus wireless devices offered a perfect solution. Their installation was quick and efficient, minimising disruption to the brewery’s production process and saving considerable labour time when compared to a traditional hardwired system. The impact on the buildings’ fabric was also greatly reduced.”
Lee Scott, engineering manager at Timothy Taylor’s Brewery, added: “The safety of our staff and the preservation of this historic site are of paramount importance. We’ve been impressed by Hyfire’s Taurus wireless fire devices. They’ve demonstrated superior performance and reliability, ensuring the highest level of protection for our premises without disturbing the heritage of our buildings or our brewing operations.”
Chris McGregor, regional sales manager at Hyfire, concluded: “We’re proud to provide advanced wireless fire technology to an institution as esteemed as Timothy Taylor’s Brewery. The particular requirements of this historic site highlight the benefits to be realised from our Taurus wireless devices. Their performance, quality and flexibility, coupled with rapid installation and minimal disruption, make them an excellent choice for such challenging environments.”
