Consultancy grows fire safety capabilities with associate director appointment
11 January 2021
TURNER & TOWNSEND has strengthened its fire consultancy capability with the appointment of David Sibert as an associate director. The global professional services business delivers fire risk assessment services to public and private sector clients across the UK.
Sibert joins the growing team primarily to provide project management and technical support alongside specialist fire strategy preparation consultation. In the main, he will be focused on technical standards, quality management systems and business development.
Based at the business’ Birmingham office, Sibert brings a wealth of experience from his almost 40-year career working in fire safety, which has included time as the national fire safety advisor for the Fire Brigades Union.
Sibert has particular experience of façade fire safety for high-rise residential buildings, having been head of the Fire Testing, Experimental and Research Laboratory at the Fire Protection Association (FPA), which included a specialism in large-scale testing of high-rise façades.
Beginning his career at the Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service, Sibert went on to work for the FPA as a technical consultant. He holds an Honours degree in Fire Safety Engineering from South Bank University.
Paul Lane, director of fire consultancy services at Turner & Townsend, commented: “David brings great expertise gathered from across the fire safety sector to our team and will further enhance the quality of service and advice we provide. Fire safety is a major priority for clients and we continue to grow our UK-wide capability in this space, ensuring that we’re able to provide consultancy support from building assessments right through to the development and delivery of fire strategies.”
