Increased demand for fire suppression in residential construction
14 March 2018
THERE IS increased demand for fire suppression in residential construction and as a market that remains relatively unsaturated, there presents a great opportunity for industry, says Plumis.

Plumis has built a profitable business in the UK selling a smarter, more efficient water mist fire sprinkler, shipping over 6,000 products worldwide and have saving multiple lives. Automist Smartscan, Plumis’ latest, most successful product to be released is both more efficient and applicable in more homes than ever before. Activated by a ceiling mounted smoke alarm or heat detector, Smartscan seeks out the fire with a unique pivoting sensor and water-misting nozzle arrangement. After the source of the fire is located, it is targeted with a powerful spray of water mist, suppressing it rapidly, rather than flowing down indiscriminately from the ceiling.
Of the many advantages of using this system, one of the most influential is that once activated, Smartscan requires 90% less water than standard sprinkler systems. This significantly reduces the potential water damage in addition to being ideal in residential areas where water supply is scarce.
Later this year, Plumis will release the latest upgrade to their Smartscan system, Hydra. Automist Hydra is a new and improved version of Smartscan that will enable the system to be installed in high-rise buildings, multi-story houses and multi-residential buildings.
