New fire and police minister set to be announced
13 June 2017
BRANDON LEWIS has been promoted in the Home Office and is now a senior minister who will attend cabinet meetings, which means the post of police and fire minister is now vacant.
Mr Lewis was appointed minister for police and fire by home secretary Amber Rudd in July last year. It was the second time he held the post as fire minister having previously been in the role from 2012-2014 while working in the Department for Communities and Local Government.
Amber Rudd will remain as home secretary and an announcement on the junior minister responsible for police and the fire and rescue service is expected imminently. Mr Lewis posted on Twitter that he’s delighted to be promoted and still working with Ms Rudd, he said: “Honoured and delighted to join the cabinet and to be working with the superb Amber Rudd at the Home Office.”
