M&G Fire Protection celebrates 25th Anniversary with industry award
08 July 2024
FIRE SYSTEMS business M&G Fire Protection, a highly accredited installation company, recently won the Fire Safety Installation Company of the Year category at the 2024 Fire & Security Matters Awards.

Owned by industry specialist Steve Middleton, the company was honoured for completing a complex NHS project in London that was worth close to £1 million and delivered on time and within budget.
The fire system at Newham University Hospital required network wiring upgrades to support the current system and future changes. The old system couldn't be expanded, and transmission times needed to be faster.
Network of panels
M&G Fire Protection worked alongside the NHS Trust’s project team to design a new network of 98 Advanced MxPro 5 panels, while keeping the existing system live. The company aligned the cause and effect, zoning and alarm zones with HTM0503-Part B and the fire strategy.
Given the long-term nature of the upgrades, M&G Fire Protection designed the network to integrate future elements seamlessly. Therefore, they had to review the entire complex site.
Newham is a large hospital with and A&E Department and a Maternity Department so the main corridors or critical wards are always open and busy. The engineers’ activities could not be an obstacle to day-to-day activities, which sometimes made the project quite challenging from an operational perspective.
After seven months, the project was handed over. The senior project manager from Turner and Townsend stated: “The M&G Fire Protection team worked in harmony with the hospital’s day-to-day activities. We cannot thank the company enough for its hard work and congratulate everyone involved.”
Anniversary celebrations
In January, M&G Fire Protection celebrated 25 years of protecting life and property across London and Essex. The company offers fire safety solutions for small and large-scale projects. Services include designing, installing, commissioning and maintaining fire systems, smoke control systems and fire extinguishers, with fire damper services available nationwide.
Steve Middleton explained: “My most significant achievements over the years are having consistently happy clients and building solid and knowledgeable teamS. Our dedicated teams are fundamental to us. Our people make the company. We’re committed to doing things right and making fire safety straightforward for our clients. I want to thank our brilliant team, clients and suppliers. It has been a fantastic 25 years. This latest award tops it off.”
