Jactone introduces range of lithium battery fire extinguishers
18 September 2023
JACTONE HAS announced the launch of its new range of lithium battery fire extinguishers incorporating FIREBLOCK LITHIUM, which is described as a “revolutionary gel material” offering “unique performance” when it comes to tackling lithium battery fires.

Lithium batteries are increasingly being used both at home and in the workplace. They provide a power source for a wide variety of equipment. However, due to a variety of reasons (including overheating, overcharging and mechanical damage) they can sometimes lead to fires.
Such fires are usually accompanied by thermal runaway within cells and thermal propagation between cells. To have any chance of arresting both thermal runaway and preventing thermal propagation, agents require high-performance properties.
In order to prevent or otherwise arrest thermal runaway requires significant cooling action to interrupt the unstable chemical process. Preventing thermal propagation necessitates the provision of a thermal insulation or ‘fireblock’ between cells.
FIREBLOCK LITHIUM is capable of arresting thermal runaway and preventing thermal propagation. FIREBLOCK LITHIUM is non-toxic and 100% biodegradable. It acts to cool lithium battery temperatures within seconds and reduces any emissions of toxic smoke, in turn lowering the explosion risk
Jactone’s lithium battery fire extinguishers are available in 2-, 6- and 9-litre models, all of which are CE and UKCA marked.
