Hochiki Europe launches FIREscape Nepto Black Edition
09 July 2026
HOCHIKI EUROPE has extended its FIREscape Nepto emergency lighting range with a new Black Edition, designed specifically for theatres, nightclubs, cinemas and other entertainment venues where visual atmosphere matters every bit as much as compliance.

Traditional white emergency lighting can be visually intrusive in darkened performance spaces, disrupting the ambience that venues work hard to create. The Black Edition addresses this with a discreet black finish that integrates into contemporary interior design, while retaining the full performance of the standard FIREscape Nepto range.
FIREscape Nepto is built around an addressable control panel with self-contained LED luminaires and exit signs, connected via screened, extra-low voltage cabling, each with its own intelligent back-up battery capable of powering the devices for the mandatory three-hour duration in the event of a power failure.
This low-voltage design, combined with the system’s ability to continually self-test and monitor itself, makes installation and maintenance quicker, easier and less costly than would be the case for central battery or mains-powered systems.
Ongoing maintenance
Luminaire batteries carry a ten-year expected lifespan, reducing replacement costs and ongoing maintenance over the life of the system. All luminaires are certified to BS EN 60598-2-22 and BS EN 62034 Type PERC, with exit signs meeting BS EN ISO 7010. The full system is compliant with BS 5266.
The range is fully scalable. Each control panel supports up to two lighting lines with up to 127 devices per line, while up to 12 panels can be networked together and controlled from a single keypad, making the system suitable for anything from a single venue to a multi-site estate.
Day-to-day, FIREscape Nepto offers adjustable lighting levels, day and night modes and the option to configure units as maintained or non-maintained, thereby affording venues control over how the system behaves outside of an emergency scenario as well as within one.
Beyond entertainment venues, the Black Edition suits any setting where design is a priority, including high-end retail environments, gyms and modern office spaces, without compromising on performance when it matters most.
