Free CPD event on lockdown and accessibility to be hosted by C-TEC
23 October 2026
C-TEC IS hosting a free Continuing Professional Development (CPD) event focusing on lockdown and accessibility. Taking place at the company’s manufacturing facility in Wigan on 4 November, the event is worth four hours of CPD points and will cover lockdown procedures, low-cost fire system upgrades and Equality Act 2010 compliance.

On the day, the content will be delivered through a series of seminars:
Lockdown Alert!
An overview of the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 (ie Martyn’s Law): What you need to know, the solutions available and how to comply
Access All Areas
Equality and accessibility legislation in the UK (including the Equality Act 2010): the solutions available and how to ensure you comply
Want to upgrade your fire detection and alarm systems? We can save you thousands!
How to upgrade an old fire safety system to a state-of-the-art addressable system capable of lockdown functionality, Internet connectivity, powerful false alarm reduction and more
The day will run from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm with registration beginning at 9.30 am. Refreshments and a free lunch will be provided. In the afternoon, there will be an opportunity for an optional factory tour of C-TEC’s state-of-the-art facility (also worth one CPD hour for attendees).
Practical guidance
Andy Green, C-TEC’s marketing director, explained: “If you’re responsible for the life safety or accessibility systems in your organisation or if you work in the education, retail or entertainment sectors, this event is for you. It will provide you with an understanding of the legislation, along with practical guidance on cost-effective ways in which to comply, often using existing equipment with relatively simple adaptations.”
Green added: “The day will conclude with an optional Q&A session with Andrew Foster, our managing director and standards expert. Demand is expected to be high so we would advise anyone who’s interested to register as early as possible.”
C-TEC designs open protocol life safety systems including commercial and domestic fire alarm systems, lockdown alert systems, evacuation alert systems, call systems, disabled refuge systems and hearing loop systems.
The company’s innovations include its award-winning CAST-PRO integrated fire detection and alarm device, which is compatible with its powerful ZFP and XFP CAST addressable fire systems.
