GQA-accredited course for ‘Responsible Persons’ brought forward by Fire Door Maintenance

25 November 2024

FIRE DOOR Maintenance – part of UAP Ltd and a leading provider of fire door safety training courses – has announced the launch of its new ‘Responsible Persons’ course, which is accredited by GQA.

The course is designed to support the ‘Responsible Person’ in residential and commercial buildings, addressing the widespread issue of poor understanding when it comes to fire safety legislation and legal duties.

With significant gaps in knowledge in the industry as highlighted by several reports over the past few years, this course has been developed to help ‘Responsible Persons’ grasp the complexities of the regulations they’re required to follow and meet their duties under current fire safety laws.

The course covers key legislation, including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the Fire Safety Act 2021 and the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, ensuring that participants fully understand their legal obligations when it comes to maintaining fire safety compliance.

Course attendance

The course can be attended in-person at Fire Door Maintenance’s Training Academy in Bury, Greater Manchester. It’s fully accredited by GQA, an Awarding Organisation known for its high standards in the industry.

Upon successful completion, participants will earn an accredited course certificate, duly demonstrating their competence in the fields of fire safety management and the legal compliance that sits alongside it.

Nicola John, managing director at Fire Door Maintenance, explained: “The course is a direct response to the recurring feedback that the ‘Responsible Person’ in an organisation often struggles to interpret and then act on fire safety legislation. By delivering clear and comprehensive training, Fire Door Maintenance aims to close the loop on information sharing within the fire safety industry, ensuring that ‘Responsible Persons’ are empowered to carry out their duties confidently and competently.”
