Fire Door Maintenance celebrates first anniversary of operations
13 February 2025
FIRE DOOR Maintenance (FDM by UAP Ltd) is marking a successful first year, having trained over 600 industry professionals and receiving industry recognition since the brand’s 2024 launch.

Across the past 12 months, FDM by UAP Ltd has played a key role in raising competency standards in fire door awareness, inspection, installation and maintenance. More than 350 industry professionals have completed fire door awareness or inspection training, while upwards of 200 professionals have gained hands-on expertise in installation, repair and maintenance.
FDM by UAP Ltd was established to address the growing need for high-quality fire door training in the wake of the Grenfell Tower tragedy, ensuring that professionals across the industry have the skills and confidence needed to meet evolving fire safety regulations.
Since launch, FDM by UAP Ltd has partnered with over 50 industry leaders and top suppliers of door sets and components, among them Falcon Timber, GGF, Mann McGowan, Lorient, PDS, IG Doors, Sentry Doors, Strongdor and NorDan.
Recognised for its practical and industry-led approach, FDM by UAP Ltd has quickly become a leading training provider. Learner feedback reinforces its impact to date, with 92% of training participants finding the practical sessions highly relevant, 94% saying that the course content is easy to follow and understand and 95% describing the training as “engaging” and “enjoyable”.
Raising standards
FDM by UAP Ltd’s commitment to raising industry standards was celebrated at the 2024 NFA Awards, where the business won the Training and Development Company of the Year Award in recognition of its impact.
Looking ahead, FDM by UAP Ltd is set to expand its offer, launching an innovative app at The Fire Safety Event designed to support professionals in ensuring compliance when installing and maintaining fire doors.
Further, a new online training platform will make its debut, in turn streamlining course bookings and providing Continuing Professional Development-accredited training to further enhance industry skills.
Nicola John, managing director of FDM by UAP Ltd, said: “The last 12 months has been a journey of collaboration and innovation. Every learner who steps into our Training Centre – from contractors to builders’ merchants – reinforces the importance of what we’re doing. I couldn’t be more proud of the foundation we’ve built for FDM by UAP Ltd to date, and we have a lot more in store for the industry during the course of 2025.”
