Cardinus Risk Management and FR Consultants form strategic alliance to make Britain’s buildings safer
02 October 2020
CARDINUS RISK Management has formed a strategic and technical alliance with façade risk advisor FR Consultants to offer a solution for the UK’s “crisis with façade combustibility” which, of course, has gained much media attention since the Grenfell Tower tragedy in June 2017.
As regulatory reform (through the Building Safety Bill and the Fire Safety Bill) strives to address issues that are present, those responsible for the management of buildings are having to undertake a process of checking the fire safety compliance of their properties and potentially commissioning remediation work.
As part of this process, Cardinus Risk Management is identifying potential “at-risk” buildings and will now offer a wider EWS1 reporting service through FR Consultants who can also offer a full suite of services to achieve compliance. Between the two technical partners, “the entire process” of ensuring fire safety can be covered.
The services available from Cardinus Risk Management include non-destructive fire risk assessments, fire training, fire safety e-learning, re-instatement cost assessments, fire-related insurer surveys and consultancy and Health and safety audits for buildings.
FR Consultants offers destructive fire risk assessments, exterior wall systems surveys (EWS1), fire engineering reports and assistance, façade surveys, remedial specification, Clerk of Works, principle designer, budgeting assistance and lead consultant services.
Complete service
The combination will allow a complete service for freeholders, landlords and agents to access assistance in assisting them to meet any fire safety compliance pinpointed.
Jamie Truscott AAIRSM, managing director for property and insurance at Cardinus Risk Management, informed Fire Safety Matters: “With legislation surrounding building safety evolving rapidly, Cardinus Risk Management is delighted to have formed this strategic alliance with FR Consultants, which is one of only a few companies with significant expertise in building façade fire safety. FR Consultants is both respected and trusted in our industry. Rather than just seeing the process as a tick-box exercise, between us we can offer consultancy and bespoke services tailored to each specific building, working closely with clients to help them on every step of their journey towards full compliance.”
Cardinus Risk Management is part of the AmWINS Group Inc which has 70 locations across 17 countries, including 50 in the United States. With more than 2,000 employees, AmWINS is an amalgamation of more than 25 wholesale brokerage, underwriting and group benefit operations.
Dorian Lawrence M.C.I.O.B C.Build E MCABE, managing director of FR Consultants, responded: “We’re pleased that, through our technical partnership with Cardinus Risk Management, we can assist the company’s large client base with our technical knowledge and at the same time widen our range of services to include BAFE-accredited fire risk assessments.”
