Aico SmartLINK Gateway Kitemarked by British Standards Institution

The Ei1000G SmartLINK Gateway provides access to real-time data insight into the status of smoke, heat and carbon monoxide alarms across housing stocks. Using its built-in GSM data connection, the Gateway employs Aico’s next generation of wireless technology to report events including fire/carbon monoxide-related activations and alarm head removals as they happen to the SmartLINK cloud portal for the purposes of full visibility and remote monitoring.

In point of fact, the SmartLINK Gateway has achieved the BSI Kitemark for Internet of Things Commercial, a multi-faceted BSI Kitemark that examines the product and its associated system and processes in their entirety.

When it comes to Aico’s Gateway, the BSI tested the connectivity and communications within the SmartLINK system, the associated mobile app and cloud portal as well as the data encryption and security of the system. Findings demonstrated that the SmartLINK Gateway stores data in a secure way and does not use weak encryption algorithms for communications. Safety functions are maintained in the event of system failure. The system itself uses Over the Air updates with an appropriate policy in place.
