SafeSpace Fire Solutions joins Britannia Fire’s distributor network

16 May 2026

FIRE EXTINGUISHER manufacturer Britannia Fire has outlined the detail underpinning a partnership arrangement featuring a new company providing sustainable fire safety products across the UK. SafeSpace Fire Solutions will now operate as a distributor for all Britannia Fire products (including its flagship composite P50 fire extinguisher range).

Operating across the UK, with directors based in Glasgow, Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire, SafeSpace Fire Solutions is a new venture founded by a team of industry experts bringing together deep technical knowledge, strategic insight and decades of experience on the front line with Fire and Rescue Services.

Having spent 30 years in the Fire and Rescue Service – including serving as chief fire officer of the Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service and president of the (then) Chief Fire Officers Association – SafeSpace Fire Solutions chair Dave Etheridge now specialises in providing consultancy services to the public and private sector, as well as the Government.

Etheridge founded SafeSpace Fire Solutions alongside three directors who’ve each followed careers shaped by preventing emergencies, saving lives and enforcing rigorous safety standards. Graeme Binning is a former chief fire officer, while Ruth Gill is a former junior officer and member of the UK’s National Executive Committee of Women in the Fire Service. They’re joined by Martin Thomas (former CEO of the Fire Service College).

The company will be offering fire suppression products specifically selected for their high-quality, affordability, effectiveness and ethical and environmental credentials. Alongside Britannia Fire’s P50 fire extinguishers, other products include Plumis’ Automist sprinklers and FirePro’s condensed aerosol generators.

Lens of expertise

Dave Etheridge informed Fire Safety Matters: “Each of us in the SafeSpace Fire Solutions team has spent years evaluating which equipment performs reliably in real-world, high-pressure situations. As such, we understand exactly what works, what fails and why. This affords customers confidence that any product we recommend has been assessed through the lens of expertise rather than salesmanship.”

Etheridge added: “Britannia Fire’s fire extinguishers have been designed to make fire safety simple, affordable and sustainable. The innovative P50 composite range is multi-purpose, corrosion-free, PFAS-free, fully recyclable and has a 20-year lifespan. It’s a win-win for customers as they save on servicing time and costs. The product also helps them to meet their sustainability targets.”

SafeSpace Fire Solutions is joining the ranks of a number of established Britannia Fire distributors in the UK, among them Safelincs and Freedom Fire in Lincolnshire, Eastern Extinguishers in Norfolk, Eco Fire Safety in Nottinghamshire and Tower Fire, which is based in Wales.

Innovation and sustainability

Andy Spence, managing director of Britannia Fire, commented: “This partnership marks an important step forward in further expanding access to our P50 range across the UK. SafeSpace Fire Solutions brings exceptional operational experience and credibility. That gives customers real confidence they’re sourcing solutions that are both practical and proven.”

Spence concluded: “We’re excited to be welcoming another distributor to the Britannia Fire family. One that shares our focus on innovation, sustainability and the importance of raising standards in fire safety.”
