Matt Humby appointed head of client support and development at Britannia Fire
29 June 2026
BRITANNIA FIRE, the dedicated manufacturer of composite fire extinguishers, has appointed Matt Humby in the role of head of client support and development as the business enters its next phase of growth following significant investment in facilities and manufacturing capacity.

Highly regarded in the fire safety sector, Humby brings with him more than 25 years’ worth of industry experience and a strong track record when it comes to technical engagement, customer relationships and helping organisations respond to evolving fire safety challenges.
In his new role, Humby will focus on strengthening customer support, training and engagement, while also contributing towards future business development initiatives across the organisation.
Commenting on his new role at Britannia Fire, Humby stated: “I’m incredibly excited about joining Britannia Fire as the next chapter in my career. I’m looking forward to becoming part of a fantastic team, supporting customers and continuing to contribute to an industry about which I’m extremely passionate.”
Substantial growth period
Humby’s appointment comes as part of a substantial period of growth for Britannia Fire, which has involved an expansion of its headquarters in Ashwellthorpe, Norfolk and investment in new manufacturing equipment.
A new 350 m2 Administration Centre has recently opened, duly providing office space, meeting rooms and staff amenities for all 56 employees. The company has also installed a second winding machine which is used to attach super-strength aramid fibre to its P50 fire extinguisher cylinders. Worth more than £300,000, the machine will double the production capacity for the popular P50 composite range, in turn helping to meet growing demand.
Andy Spence, managing director at Britannia Fire, stated: “This is an exciting time to welcome Matt to our team. As we continue to grow, we’re investing not only in manufacturing capacity, but also in strengthening the support, education and training we provide to our customers and partners.”
Spence continued: “Matt’s experience in technical engagement and customer development will help us to expand our existing training programmes and create broader learning opportunities across the sector. Alongside this, our investment in facilities and production capacity ensures that we’re very well placed to meet increasing demand for the P50 range.”
Corrosion-resistant alternative
Britannia Fire’s P50 composite fire extinguisher range provides a corrosion-resistant alternative to traditional metal extinguishers.
PFAS free, fully recyclable and lasting 20-plus years, P50 extinguishers require significantly less servicing, thereby helping customers to meet their ongoing sustainability objectives and reduce servicing costs.
