ROCKWOOL adds Silicone X sealant to FIREPRO product range
23 June 2022
INSULATION PRODUCTS manufacturing specialist ROCKWOOL has added a new multi-application sealant to its FIREPRO range of specialist fire protection products. The new ‘Type X’ silicone sealant – Silicone X – is suitable for linear joint seals in walls and floors and for external and internal applications across a range of substrates.

Both CE marked and UL-EU certified, Silicone X provides up to four hours’ fire integrity (subject to application) in accordance with BS EN 1366-4:2006. FIREPRO Silicone X has been categorised as Type X in accordance with the applicable European Assessment Document, in turn meaning that it’s suitable for external applications including those exposed to weathering.
“Silicone X provides a flexible and fire-resistant sealant in more ways than one,” commented Paul Barrett, head of product management at ROCKWOOL UK. “As well as its proven fire performance and a flexible seal, Silicone X can be used across a broad spectrum of substrates, both internally and externally. Professionals are able to derive greater versatility from a single specification.”
ROCKWOOL Limited is part of the ROCKWOOL Group. With one factory based in Bridgend, South Wales and over 500 employees across the UK, the business offers a full range of high-performing and sustainable insulation products for the construction industry.
