Illumino Ignis introduces ‘The Engineers Workstation’

25 March 2024

FIRE SAFETY project design, systems supply, commissioning and support specialist Illumino Ignis has launched ‘Illumino Essentials’: a range of innovative products manufactured in the UK that solve real on-site problems for engineers.

The latest product in the range, namely ‘The Engineers Workstation’, is already proving to be very popular among fire alarm engineers, with the Yaxley-based company having sold “hundreds” in its first week of launch alone.

‘The Engineers Workstation’ is a robust aluminium folding tray that clips on to any fire alarm panel or distribution board, providing a secure platform for a laptop or other tools. This design allows engineers easy access to their laptops while working and, importantly, eliminates the need to leave them in high-risk areas. It’s a solution that specifically addresses a common issue in the trade that often leads to valuable equipment being damaged.

To increase robustness and account for the weight of engineers' laptops, a retractable tray can be pulled out and secured using thumbscrews to add stability against the wall. The product is compact and easily portable as it can be folded up and stored within the transport case provided.

Product development

Graham Cardwell, fire alarm technical support specialist at Illumino Ignis, explained: “For a few years now, as well as distributing other manufacturers’ products, we’ve also been developing our own. We are extremely excited about ‘The Engineers Workstation’. We’re fire alarm engineers by trade, so we’ve been there, done it and know exactly what the issues are on-site. We’re passionate about helping our customers overcome those issues.”

The product is available for free next day delivery via the new Illumino Essentials e-commerce website along with other useful products such as keyring sets (which include over 40 essential keys), engineers’ kits (encompassing spare parts) and also designers’ stamp kits.
