“Fresh focus” heralded for Hochiki Europe exports and partners
10 July 2022
LIFE SAFETY solutions manufacturer Hochiki Europe has appointed Richard Wharram as the company’s new export sales manager. Wharram replaces Mark Jones who has accepted a new role developing and managing Hochiki’s network of OEM partners across its export regions, in turn enabling a greater focus and support for these partners.

Wharram (pictured) will work with the export team to continue sales growth across Europe. He brings with him a wealth of experience having worked in the fire and security industries since 1993. Wharram started his career as an apprentice electrician, progressing to the role of senior installation and commissioning engineer before moving into sales. He established a trusted reputation, seeing many prestigious projects through from inception to completion.
Wharram joined Hochiki in 2016 as a regional sales manager where he looked after Northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland and contributed to a growth in sales. He later moved into the systems sales team in order to work with some of Hochiki’s biggest customers.
Commenting on his new appointment, Wharram informed Fire Safety Matters: “I’m looking forward to working with our highly skilled sales team covering Europe and Africa. We have a lot of long-standing and very loyal customers across these two continents. It’s going to be a pleasure meeting them and helping to grow their businesses.”
Greater focus
Mark Jones’ transition into managing and developing the relationships with Hochiki’s OEM partner network is an exciting one. Jones has been with the company for almost 25 years. Most of this time has been focused on export sales across varied territories.
This new role will provide a greater focus and support to the Hochiki ESP panel and OEM partners who, together, form a significant part of the European operation with huge growth potential.
Jones stated: “I’m excited to work with our key partners and provide the best possible service for them. I know my global experience will be well matched with the way in which our partners like to operate and I’m looking forward to what we can achieve together.”
Reflecting on both internal moves, Hochiki Europe’s sales and marketing director Nathan Hudson explained: “This is an incredibly positive step for Hochiki Europe and for both Richard and Mark. I’m immensely proud of the work both have put into their previous roles and the relationships they have developed with our customers. I know that they will continue to build on this work ethic and develop the teams they now lead. Both are dedicated to excellent customer service.”
