Inaugural Fire Safety Matters Live event broadcasts on Wednesday 3 November
02 November 2021
FIRE SAFETY Matters Live is an all-new, one-day online conference broadcasting live on Wednesday 3 November from 10.00 am right through until 3.30 pm. Free to attend and with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points available for all delegates, the event has been organised by Fire Safety Matters magazine and will be chaired by Western Business Media’s CEO Mark Sennett.
Following on from the opening remarks, Peter Baker (Chief Inspector of Buildings at event supporter the Health and Safety Executive) will evaluate the role of the new Building Safety Regulator. This is a session not to be missed. Following on from this lead presentation, at 10.30 am it’s the turn of Amanda Hope (UK business development manager at Headline Sponsor Advanced) to focus delegates’ attentions on integrated fire safety solutions.
11.00 am heralds the start of what will be an extremely interesting panel discussion around the significance of the competency culture in the fire safety sector. Taking part are John Davidson (national schemes manager at the National Security Inspectorate), BAFE’s director of schemes Chris Auger and also Mark Forster-Searle, assistant fire schemes manager for the Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board). All three organisations are industry supporters of Fire Safety Matters Live.
The total cost of ownership in UK healthcare buildings is the subject of Mike Sutton’s delivery at 11.30 am. Sutton is business development manager for the healthcare sector at Platinum Sponsor Apollo Fire Detectors. Midday sees Andy Speake (national technical manager at Platinum Sponsor Aico) turn the audience’s attention towards domestic fire and carbon monoxide legislation, regulation and standards as they impact the UK market.
Fire safety compliance
Nigel Ward (sales engineer at Platinum Sponsor FFE who recently presented an excellent seminar session at the 2021 edition of the FIM Expo in Belfast) is using the 12.30 pm slot at conference to discuss ways in which to protect facilities where rapid fire detection is absolutely critical. Ward is followed at 1.00 pm by Jason Hill (sales manager at Platinum Sponsor Tio Fire Safety) who’s going to be concentrating on the use of digital logbooks to ensure fire safety compliance.
‘Competence for Building a Safer Future’ is the theme of Ian Moore’s presentation at 1.30 pm. CEO of supporting organisation the Fire Industry Association, Moore will examine what has been done – and is being done – to reduce the chances of another major fire-related tragedy here in the UK.
Is your organisation properly protected against the dangers of fires involving hazardous materials? If you want to find out, make sure you view the 2.00 pm presentation courtesy of Mark Whiteley (UK and Ireland manager at Platinum Sponsor asecos). This session at conference is followed (at 2.30 pm) by an appearance from Niall Rowan, regulatory and technical officer at the Association for Specialist Fire Protection. Rowan is going to be wholly focused on the subject of competence in relation to passive fire protection solutions delivery.
The final presentation of the day, which runs from 3.00 pm, is the domain of Dr Bob Docherty (president of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers, another of our industry supporters for this event). Always hugely engaging, Docherty is going to concentrate on the vital topic of career pathways for fire risk assessors.
Networking and CPD
On the day, delegates will be able to network with each other and sponsors via live chat or by dint of requesting a video call. They can also Direct Message the sponsors of Fire Safety Matters Live when accessing the on-demand service.
All attendees will have access to the six-hour conference programme and, as stated, receive CPD points for their attendance courtesy of our ongoing arrangement with the Institute of Fire Safety Managers. They will be able to engage with the Sponsors Area and browse helpful written and video-based content uploaded by those companies involved.
Additional sponsors of Fire Safety Matters Live 2021 are simPRO Software and Uptick. Further industry supporters are the National Association of Healthcare Fire Officers, the Rail Industry Fire Association, The Fire Safety Event and the Independent Fire Engineering and Distributors Association.
