Cygnus unveils plans for Fire Safety Matters Live Manchester
15 August 2025
CYGNUS, THE developer and manufacturer of fire detection technology, will be exhibiting at Fire Safety Matters Live Manchester, which runs on 1 October 2025 at the Emirates Old Trafford (the home of Lancashire County Cricket Club).

Following on from a highly successful appearance at Fire Safety Matters Live Coventry in early June, the company will be visiting Manchester to continue celebrating the two-year anniversary of SmartNet (the 100% wireless fire detection and alarm system) achieving EN 54 certification.
SmartNet is a BS 5839-1 compliant system and up to 20 times faster to install than wired systems. Installation comes with minimal disruption to buildings and people, significantly reducing the downtime and disturbance to daily operations.
The SmartNet network is built on a combination of radio devices, operating on a patented self-forming, self-healing wireless mesh network with multipath network redundancy using innovative channel-hopping technology, in turn delivering a reliable and robust solution.
Positive response
“We’re thrilled to be back at Fire Safety Matters Live, this time in Manchester, after what was such a successful show in Coventry,” explained Denley Nunn, regional sales manager at Cygnus. “It was fantastic to see the positive response to our SmartNet solutions and accessories. We’re looking forward to connecting once again with industry professionals and showcasing the continued innovation behind our wireless systems.”
SmartNet-Pro offers a scalable solution with the capability for each panel to connect 511 devices and up to 96 zones, with networking of up to five panels available via a software release code, in turn providing a combined solution of over 2,500 devices.
While SmartNet-Pro caters to the larger scales of application, SmartNet-100 provides all of the key benefits of SmartNet-Pro in a more cost-effective solution, which is designed to support a maximum of 100 devices. SmartNet-100 is best suited for small to medium-sized applications where the scalability of the SmartNet-Pro is not required.
Nunn added: “We’re currently running our De-risked Trial Programme because we’re confident in SmartNet’s performance. It’s a no-risk way in which to experience the benefits for yourself. Purchase your first system on a 90-day sale-or-return basis, receive a dedicated day’s worth of free training for hassle-free installation and enjoy full-time, on-call technical support. If you did ever hit problems, we’ll even contribute towards de-installation costs. Come and chat with us at Fire Safety Matters Live Manchester and find out how you can take advantage of this opportunity.”
Accessories range
The Cygnus team will also be on hand at Fire Safety Matters Live Manchester to talk through the Cygnus Accessories range, which includes:
Cygnus ALERT
The perfect remote notification and monitoring complement to Cygnus’ SmartNet range of fire detection and alarm systems. Using Cygnus ALERT, installers and site administrators can receive event, fault or mesh information in real-time, enabling swift responses to on-site situations. Cygnus ALERT presents easy user management to view and notify across multiple sites and a variety of environments.
Cygnus Configuration Software Tool and Mesh Analyser
Simplifies system set-up and provides complete system visibility, including radio communication paths, signal integrity and diagnostics. Advanced ‚cause and effect‘ functionality can be set up through the configurator. It delivers a more efficient installation and commissioning process, ensuring that installers and end users have a robust and stable network from the outset.
Portable Programming Unit (PPU)
Helps with the planning and deployment of the SmartNet system. The PPU allows installers to deliver firmware and configuration updates to devices wirelessly while they are on-site, making the process faster and more efficient for areas that are hard to access.
Site Survey Kit
Streamlines the planning and deployment of SmartNet fire detection and alarm systems, allowing installers to deploy three bespoke detectors that replicate the mesh network to ensure the suitability of the system for the environment.
