C-TEC’s md Andrew Foster appointed to FIA Board and Council

17 November 2025

ANDREW FOSTER, managing director of fire alarm and evacuation alert systems developer C-TEC, has been elected to the Fire Industry Association’s (FIA) Board of Directors and reappointed to its Fire Detection and Alarm Council.

Foster began his career as an electrical engineer before founding C-TEC, widely regarded as one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of life-safety systems, back in 1981. Passionate about R&D, UK manufacturing and creating innovations to enhance fire safety, Foster is a hands-on managing director with a wealth of technical knowledge and real-life experience.

Commenting on the news, Foster informed Fire Safety Matters: “I’m delighted to have been appointed to the Board and I’m very much looking forward to sharing my insight and practical knowledge to promote members’ interests and shape the future of our industry. I’m also honoured to have been given the opportunity to continue contributing towards the valuable work carried out by the Fire Detection and Alarm Council.”

Dan Foster, director of science at C-TEC, has been appointed to the FIA’s new Technology Council. Involved in the design, certification and ongoing safety of the technologies used in the company’s life safety systems, Foster will work with other members of the Council to guide the industry in this vital area and keep the FIA at the forefront of technological innovation.

In addition to fire systems, lockdown systems and evacuation alert systems, C-TEC also manufactures some of the UK’s most respected call systems, disabled refuge systems and hearing loop systems.
