Aico partners with AWEBB to power The LEAD Academy
05 June 2023
EDUCATION, TRAINING and development are at the heart of what Aico offers to its supply chain and colleagues. In line with this, the business has announced that it will be supporting the Association of Wholesale Electrical Bulk Buyers’ (AWEBB) Training Academy with a rebrand. The AWEBB LEAD Training Academy is being rebranded as The LEAD Academy powered by Aico.

The AWEBB’s Training Academy provides a pathway into management for members. Through the training, they can increase their awareness of effective sales skills and negotiation, develop their techniques for conducting successful interviews and gain insights into effective business development.
Mark Lambert, CEO at the AWEBB for over 15 years now, commented: “We are thrilled to be partnering with Aico to enhance The LEAD Academy. We share the same values around training and investing in our people so the partnership itself is a natural fit.”
Aico, the home life safety systems developer, has recognised the great work being done by the AWEBB. The new partnership will ensure the best outcomes for both organisations and enable the AWEBB to continue to provide its members with industry-leading training.
Quality, service, innovation, education
Neal Hooper, managing director at Aico, commented: “Aico HomeLINK’s foundations are built upon quality, service, innovation and education, while our award-winning Continuing Professional Development accredited training and unique City & Guilds assured training offer the supply chain unrivalled learning.”
Hooper added: “Every colleague within Aico HomeLINK has four days every year devoted to personal development. We are delighted to partner with the AWEBB and The LEAD Academy. It’s a superb initiative ensuring that education embraces the entire membership at all levels. We look forward to delivering education together for future generations.”
Selling profitably
Barry Hall, learning and development manager at the AWEBB, is responsible for delivering training to members. “The LEAD Academy powered by Aico is really aimed at making people think much deeper about how to sell profitably,” explained Hall. “The workshops are designed to reflect our members’ particular challenges and cater to an individual’s needs and wants for their own career. The partnership with Aico allows us to build on that shared belief of the importance of people development in order to ensure staff retention and progression.”
For its part, the AWEBB is an independent negotiation body with over 200 branches across the UK and Ireland. Many members have been part of the group for over 40 years.
